My 1987 Ford Ranger EGR Valve
I've found out recently that the reason why my 1987 Ford Ranger XLT 2.9L V6
is hesitating at high speeds is that the EGR valve is not working
properly.l tried taking it off but l am having a hard time taking it off
of the pipe that leads to the exhaust system.It easily comes off the
manifold but it feels like it has rusted onto the exhaust pipe.I've tried
WD-40 and Liquid Wrench but l have no luck.Any ideas?
no lubricant will work! simply because if it is rusted up as
bad as i think it might be - the lub will not get in there - the best
thing to do is get a panel hammer & gently tap it with that getting harder
with each hit & as long as ur not hitting it like you would hit a stubborn
wheel bearing it shouldent get damaged
a good substitute for a panel hammer is a club hammer & a cloth for more information on EGR valves i can send you an email of my EGR knowledge sheet i always give my customers
You need to leave it installed in the manifold and get a wrench
the size of the nut. It has a antiseeze compound on it and it will unscrew
but it is not easy. Once you unscrew it from the exhaust the remove it
from the manifold
